Short profile of the equipment and platform used for our base camping when doing 24hr races, back-country exploration and camping.
The Platform
One 1985 VW T3 Transporter named Sunny. Trakka conversion to add in a bed seat. Bamboo yellow hides the mud, dirt nicely.
Vehicle Modifications
- Inline prefilter: The T3 has no filtration in place before the fuel pump, so dirty fuel can damage the pump. One Ryco Z14 placed inline before the pump to prevent water, dirt getting to the pump.
- Backup Battery: for running camp voltage loads
- Roobar: has saved the front of the bus more than once
- Centre console: knocked together out of some scrap pine that was laying about
Camp focused additions
Preference is always for equipment that can be used independent of the bus, or inside it.
