HOW WE USE AND SUPPORT ATLASSIAN PRODUCTS
Laughing Mind are based on Central Coast NSW, but delivering services to clients across the Asia Pacific region and USA through our spinoff at Assemblient. We've been using the Atlassian project collaboration tools since 2005 and help deliver easy-to-use business collaboration platforms for our clients. This gets you set up for distributed collaborations and rapid delivery of initiatives, perfect for supporting Telework and keeping business workforces connected, collaborating across time place and purpose.
We're usually product agnostic, but have to admit that we're big fans of the products from Atlassian and have been using them in our business consulting engagements since 2005. Whilst the products have changed a little over that time, what hasn't changed is the suitability of tools like Confluence and JIRA for supporting distributed team collaborations.
Our services are complemented by real-world business experience in Confluence, JIRA, JIRA Service Desk and HipChat - we don't just endorse them, we use them, in productive project collaborations with our clients to help demonstrate the value of the platforms for businesses seeking greater internal connections across their workforce. We've created and supported OnPremise, OnDemand and custom hosted instances (where you can use your own domain) using a combination of Atlassian platforms and third party AddOns and experienced Hosting partners.
Want to know what works even better than using these tools on their own? Use them together and really start to reap the benefits in achieving your business goals. To get an idea of how their products support your business, check out how it works, noting that their products are not just for software development, but can be used for a broad range of business initiatives. If you're curious about how businesses use the tools, check out Atlassian Customer stories. We find they work well in treating the symptoms of Collaboration Dysfunction. They're also well supported by an extensive ecosystem of partner plugins in the Atlassian Marketplace.

Business + Project collaboration made Simple.Easy.Transparent.Social
Configuring online workspaces for documentation intensive projects where collaborative authoring is needed is a key service of ours. We're experienced in creating, sustaining and evolving Confluence with it's native feature set and a range of trusted third party plugins.
This has helped us create business wikis and project workspaces aligned to rapid delivery of initiatives, particularly where collaborative authoring across a team is required, including:
Delivering business projects successfully means knowing who is delivering what and when, with the ability to plan ahead by allocating work and making clear what needs to be delivered. Structured Project Management Methodologies go partway by describing 'how', but Jira helps in the defining and tracking of 'What' will be delivered, "when' it can be expected and 'who' is tasked with the responsibility.
Where Jira really counts is in the transparency it offers in project delivery, providing minute by minute updates of who is working on what, made visible in the Activity Stream and event notifications.
For teams leveraging Agile techniques, the use of JIRA Agile provides a great task based wallboard for aggregating team work into planned releases.
We've found that our clients LOVE the transparency of project team activity provided by the activity streams of Jira and being able to embed Jira content into Confluence project workspaces, minimising the need for transformation and republishing of content.
A key opportunity in project delivery is being close to the point-of-truth systems where delivery is actually occurring. We've seen pretty large projects remain in a time loop at the '95% complete' mark when dealing with team leaders reporting in for MS Project WBS updates, where Board briefing materials rely on secondary reporting systems rather than staying on top of the 'pulse' of project delivery via activity streams.
Making delivery transparent in projects very quickly helps to blow away some of the fog and mystery that can otherwise be buried in weekly/periodic status reports.
other atlassian systems we recommend for your productivity toolkit
Confluence Team Calendars - because personal calendars don't cut the mustard for team collaboration. With Team Calendars in place, make visible the information that matters - team member availability, project delivery schedules, upcoming releases or project milestones and integrate a dynamically built delivery schedule based on your JIRA Projects. By constantly polling your point-of-truth project delivery systems, you'll have a more complete at-a-glance view of how things are really tracking. From wherever you're working.
Confluence Questions - lost track of how many times you've seen the same question asked by email, knowing its buried somewhere? Building up a corporate knowledge base involves a Social Question and Answer pattern which we've addressed with other SocialQA platforms in the past. Now, Atlassian have brought to market a SocialQA product of their own, which makes integration a much tidier task.
